GSWEC Interns are doing more than adding to their individual knowledge regarding issues related to working with older adults. They provide valuable services that may add to the improvement of an individual elder’s life or contribute to the growing body of specialized knowledge that makes up geriatric social work.
Here are some examples:
Maira Robles, who recently interned for Partners Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) spoke about her field training experiences commenting, “I’m excited about being able to provide concrete services working alongside experienced social workers. Partners is a great place to learn and grow professionally.”
Eunice Chen was an intern with Partners’ Community Wellness Department during 2019-2020, and for her project, she undertook a study to “determine the impact of Partners’ evidence-based programs on social isolation among older adults.” The study’s findings were so significant, that the organization is working with Matthew Smith on publishing a paper based on the outcomes found in Eunice’s research.
